La definizione archeologica ed archeometrica delle produzioni della Sicilia punica ha costituito una delle priorità nell’ambito di un progetto di ricerca incentrato sulla provenienza di anfore commerciali da siti del Mediterraneo centro-meridionale. Ceramiche di età islamica provenienti da Castello della Pietra (Trapani)

This paper presents the first results of the study on the medieval ceramic discovered during the diggings in the hilltop of Castello della Pietra (Trapani) in the years 1973-74. The research is still in progress. Materials were found within cavities reused as dumps and are exceptionally well preserved. Within the ceramic uncovered, there are fragments of tableware, storage vessels and amphorae. These wares were used by some of the people occupying the site between the second half of the 10th century and the 11th century. Links with Ifriqija are proved by the significant importation of glazed wares.

In this paper will be described the ceramic found in the site Contrada Case Romane in the island of Marettimo. On this site a monastic community was founded in the end of the 5th century. This settlement was destroyed in the 8th century and a new one founded in the same location under Norman rule (end of 11th century). The items discovered prove that between the 5th and the 7th century the island was part of a Mediterranean route linking Africa with Rome and the main locations of the western Mediterranean sea. Lo scavo della Chiesa di Santa Maria Degli Angeli alla Gancia: indicatori archeologici della prima età islamica a Palermo

Lo scavo in occasione del restauro della chiesa di Santa Maria degli Angeli alla Gancia a Palermo ha permesso di recuperare alcune stratigrafie affidabili relative alla prima età islamica a Palermo. Lo studio della ceramica ha restituito una serie di indicatori cronologici per il IX-X secolo nonché di proporre nuove cronologie per alcune classi di materiali. Relativamente alla storia della città questo scavo ha aggiunto alcune note importanti che riguardano il porto e la cittadella e mirale la al-Halisah.
Carthage's military installations of the First Punic War on Monte Pellegrino (Palermo)

The excavation in the park of Villa Belmonte (Monte Pellegrino, Palermo) has brought to light several warehouses, made with a “pseudo-frame” technique, probably with a straw roof, used for the storage of foodstuffs, given the large quantity of Punic-type amphorae found in situ, datable to around the middle of the third century BC. In addition, a section of road - about 3 m wide that proceeds in the direction of WNW- ESE, consisting of two layers of use - has been intercepted. We believe to have tracked down part of a strategic/military station used by the Carthaginian army during the crucial years of the First Punic War.

In 1996 and 1997, a century after the excavations conducted by F. Halbherr, new soundings were conducted in the Greek agora at Gortyna as part of the activities of the Italian Archaeological School at Athens, and with the permission and cooperation of the 23th Ephoria of Antiquities of Heraklion. The excations started from the western edge of the agora, by the Mitropolianos torrent, where F. Halbherr and L. Pernier had discovered three parallel walls. La ceramica dipinta in rosso, caratteristica dei contesti mediterranei tra l'età bizantina e quella medievale, in Sicilia è poco studiata. quasi del tutto inediti sono numerosi rinvenimenti e mancano le cronotipologie. questo studio si propone di fare il punto della questione sullo studio di questa classe nell'isola e fornire ulteriori dati sulle associazioni in strati e sulle cronologie.
